Bio

Leonard Martinez grew up in Denver, Colorado in a politically active family. He has always had a passion for the law and for giving back to the community. He strongly believes his strong bond with clients makes him different from most litigation attorneys. Leonard is known for serving on nonprofit boards and coaching youth sports, and he works to help his clients with any needs they have. As the founder of Leonard A. Martinez & Associates, P.C., he specializes in personal injury, criminal defense, civil litigation, employment law, contract litigation, and family law.

After graduating from Metropolitan State College in 1990, Leonard went on to graduate from The University of Denver College of Law in 1995 with a Juris Doctorate. After that, he interned at the East Wing of the White House in the Legislative Affairs Department under former President Bill Clinton.

Following his internship, Leonard ran several political campaigns before switching to litigation. As a lawyer, he worked for several different firms before starting his own in 2001. He founded The Denver Legal Team in Lakewood, Colorado, 20 years ago, with his partner, who has since moved to Florida.

Originally, The Denver Legal Team focused on civil litigation, including personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. However, Leonard and his firm have been recognized most for winning tough criminal cases. In the last 10 years, they haven’t spent money or time on advertising, yet the firm continues to prosper on client referrals, which means a lot to Leonard and the team.

Leonard volunteers as a high school football coach in his spare time, not so he can get more business, but because he genuinely believes it’s important. In the past, he’s also done pro-bono work for the Southwest Immigration Project, helping families separated at the border. His goal is to lead by example because he not only believes in community involvement, he believes in the community.
