Statutes of Limitations: What does it mean?

If you have been injured, you have a limited amount of time in which to file a claim against an at fault party. This time period is called the statute of limitations. This time period varies from personal injury claim to claim and from state to state. If you fail to file your personal injury claim or lawsuit before its statute of limitations expires, then your claim or lawsuit more than likely will be dismissed. Professional Malpractice: (Medical malpractice and Attorney malpractice)
2 years from the date the injury was or should have been discovered. However no medical malpractice claim may be filed more than three years after the act giving rise to the injury occurred.
Personal Injury: Under Colorado law the general limitations period for personal injury is 2 years.
AUTO ACCIDENTS: The limitations period for injuries resulting from a motor vehicle accident is three years.
Fraud: 3 years. 1 year for actions involving the real estate recovery fund.
Libel / Slander / Defamation: 1 year.
Injury to Personal Property: 3 years for property damage resulting from the use of a motor vehicle.
Product Liability: 2 years.
